How to convert PDF pages to PNG
A PNG of a PDF page is a picture of that page: something you can put in a slide, a document editor, a design tool or a form that only takes images. PDF to PNG draws the pages you choose in your browser and saves them as PNG files. Here is the whole path, from opening the file to saving the images.
Open your PDF
Drop the file on the page or use Add PDF. The PDF is read on your device; it is not uploaded to a server for the conversion. PDF to PNG works on one PDF at a time — if you drop several, the first one is opened.
A PDF that is password-protected or restricted cannot be opened here, and no password is asked for.
Keep the pages you need
When the document opens, every page is selected. You take away what you don’t need:
- Tap or click a page to remove it from the selection; tap it again to add it back.
- Select all, Clear and Invert change the whole selection at once; Odd pages and Even pages are under More.
- Or type the pages into the range field, for example
3, 18, 42-46.7-means “page 7 to the end”. The range is applied when you press Enter or Apply.
For a single page, the quickest way is Clear, then tap that page. Whatever order you pick pages in, the images come out in the order the pages have in the document.
Pick a resolution
Open the settings panel and choose one of three resolutions:
| Option | dpi | An A4 page becomes |
|---|---|---|
| Compact | 96 | 793 × 1123 px |
| Standard (default) | 150 | 1240 × 1754 px |
| High | 300 | 2479 × 3508 px |
Each option shows the pixel size of your first selected page before you save. At High, the panel also reminds you that a PNG can get large — Choosing a resolution for PDF to PNG explains when 300 dpi is worth it.
There is no format to choose: PDF to PNG always saves PNG.
Save
- One page downloads as a single
.png, named after your file and the page number — for exampleposter-page-2.png. - Several pages arrive together in one ZIP (
poster-png.zip), in document order.
While the pages are being drawn, the save button shows a counter such as “3 / 12”. Cancel stops the job, and nothing is downloaded after a cancel. If something fails, Try again runs the job again.
On a phone
The steps are the same: tap pages to remove or add them, or type a range with the phone’s keyboard. After saving, Download again gives you the same files without drawing the pages again. If your browser can share files, Share passes the PNG images themselves to another app on your phone. How a ZIP is opened depends on the phone; Saving several PDF pages as PNG covers that.
What to keep in mind
- The page is drawn on a white background. These PNGs have no transparent areas; what changes when a PDF becomes a PNG explains why and what else changes.
- The tool draws whole pages; it does not pull out the photos embedded inside a PDF.
- Very large pages are scaled down to stay within 8192 pixels on the longest side and 24 megapixels per page, with their proportions kept. A note under the page selection tells you before you save.
- The tool sets no fixed page-count limit. Practical capacity depends on the document, the resolution and the memory available on your device.
